Just Because

Just Because - Beth Davis ImageSo, I have an Aunt that I adore very much, who lives in New York. She and I aren’t close at all, and we hardly ever see each other. In fact, I think the last time I saw her was over 13 years ago, I am sure. Talking over the phone is even a rare thing. Usually, I may get to talk to her once a year over the holidays when everyone is over we will call her and all get to talk to her. But in my heart I love her and I feel a connection to her.  I don’t know why, I don’t even know a whole lot about her, but what I do know, is that she is one of the strongest, least selfish woman I have ever met in my entire life.

I think about my Aunt all of the time, and I wish she lived closer, I would totally have her over for tea and dinners and spend much more time with her. My Aunt  is my late  Father’s, late brother’s wife. She grew up in Pittsburgh and then after her and my uncle got married they moved away to Long Island, New York.

Together they have 4 son’s and one of which has cerebral palsy. My cousins are wonderful as well and I also think of them all the time. They are all grown now and live on their own with their own families and children. My cousin who is disabled still lives at home with my Aunt. She takes care of him, and always has unselfishly since he was born. He is now over 40 years old! Which is a miracle in itself, but I have no doubt that he is a miracle due to my Aunt’s love for him.

She has taught him so many things and has made sure he has always gotten the utmost best treatment he could get.  He is a big man too, and my Aunt is just a little lady and I have no idea how she lifts him and cares for him but she does. I think it is her willpower and again her love for him.

My Aunt has inspired me so much, I don’t even think she knows how much. She is a tough cookie and I love her so much.

A few month’s ago, I was thinking about her and I decided to send her a bouquet of flowers. I ordered them through 1-800 – FLOWERS.COM.  I didn’t tell her anything about them, and it wasn’t for any special occasion. When the flowers arrived, she called me, she called my mom, and she showed them to all my cousins and their wives. I made her day. I felt so good inside to be able to send her a little bit of surprise joy that day!

To me, when I send flowers, I like to send them and surprise people. Not for any reason but to add a bit of sunshine to their day, week, month, or even for some the year!

She was so thrilled, I missed her call, but she cried with joy over my phone when she left the message to thank me. Then I cried too :)  She said she just kept looking at the flowers and all their beauty.

It made my heart so happy.
