Outdoor Fall Activities for Families

Fall Outdoor Activities ImageWith cooler weather and change of seasons, fall is one of the best times to head outside with your family. Since it is also one of the busiest seasons with school in session, football season in full swing and holidays approaching, you need to make some time to just enjoy being together. Luckily, the season comes with plenty of options for outdoor fun. Grab a sweater and take advantage one of these seasonal activities.

  • Visit a pumpkin patch. In addition to picking pumpkins, many patches offer other activities such as hayrides, scarecrow dress-up and face painting.

  • Take a hike (or ride a bike) around your neighborhood. While you are out, pay attention to the falling leaves and other changes taking place in nature.

  • Rake leaves. This quintessential fall task provides exercise, encourages family bonding and marks one item off your to-do list. Don’t forget to jump in the piles when you are done!

  • Go to a football game. Whether pro, college or high school, the whole family can dress in team colors and spend a few hours rooting for a favorite team together.

  • Camp out in the backyard. Even if you don’t spend the whole night outside, you can build a fire, roast hot dogs, make smores and tell stories while snuggled under blankets.
The fall months offer many fun activities for families to enjoy together. While the weather is still reasonable and before the holiday season arrives, take a break from busy schedules to spend time outdoors with your family.
